Jamesville, NY

The Upstate New York hamlet of Jamesville blends in well with its rural Finger Lake surroundings. However, just on the other side of Interstate 481 lays the major urban center and college town of Syracuse, home to most of Central New York’s educational and employment opportunities. On both sides of the highway, Syracuse’s suburban outskirts blend with Jamesville’s rustic homes to form an increasingly in-demand yet diverse housing market just miles from the heart of the Salt City. Outside of the Jamesville’s small town center, stretches of quiet country roads lead past gently rolling hills, wooded areas and subdivisions. Jamesville was one of the many settlements established in the years following the end of the Revolutionary War. The town was named for settler James DeWitt. He is also the namesake of Jamesville’s highly rated public middle and high schools. The local Seneca Turnpike’s name references the earlier inhabitants of the Jamesville area before the Revolutionary War displaced the Seneca Iroquois people from the Finger Lakes region.
